Well, welcome to my little blog! Thank you for taking the time to check it out. I suppose most of these blogs include something about the author so here it goes. I’m a full time special education teacher and I have been married to my best friend for the past 5 years. We have a small house in the Rochester area that we share with our two dogs. We have been blessed with almost 2 acres of land to use however we want! We have slowly been redoing parts of our house to make it cozier and preparing for our future family. I enjoy gardening, especially my little vegetable garden to grow our own healthy fresh veggies. Now that I only have my job to focus on I have been trying new healthy (and unhealthy) recipes in our kitchen and I look forward to sharing my favorites with you.
This past year my family and I have gone through a lot of ups and downs. Those happy moments and extreme challenges have really change my perspective on life and how I want to use my time here on earth. Lately I have been trying to slow down and enjoy the small pleasures in life and trying new things outside my comfort zone. As a child was a storm of energy, mess, and a little bit of naughtiness. As I’ve gotten older my personality has become a crazy mishmash of type-A organization and need for control, with a little bit of free spirit and slight eccentricity thrown in for good measure. I’ve never been one to do something someone else’s way. Though this combination has made it difficult to develop relationships over the years, I have truly come to love who I have become and value those meaningful relationships I do have.
I received by bachelor’s degree in inclusive childhood education and most recently graduated with my masters in curriculum specialist. I have always wanted to be a teacher. Even when I was little. In fact the day I was born my mom cut out my horoscope and the first sentence said “you are intuitive, a natural teacher.” Don’t believe me, I have photo proof. After many years of struggle I finally have my own classroom. I am a special education teacher for students with severe special needs. I’m not going to lie, it’s a tough job, but I love it. It may sound cliché, but it’s true, even the small accomplishments I see in my students make all the other horrible days disappear.
So what’s left? Well I love to create. It doesn’t matter what. I’m always trying new things. Painting, sewing, photography, cooking. You name it, and I’m sure I have tried or am planning on trying it. I had always wanted to be an art teacher, but if you think becoming a regular teacher is hard, try finding a job as an art teacher. Though I may not be teaching my passion, I still love painting and drawing in my free time. Oh and reading too. Please recommend any great books to me. I wish I could just stay home every day and read all day. So many things to do, so little time!
Oh yes, last but certainly not least, you may have noticed that I mentioned earlier that my husband and I are getting ready to expand our own little family. Well that’s the plan. I can’t say when exactly that adventure will start, but I hope it is soon. I look forward to sharing that exciting journey as time goes by.
Thanks for stopping by!
